Statendam Meets Dutch Dignitaries

Erica Terpstra, chairman of the Dutch Olympic Committee, is a retired freestyle swimmer from The Netherlands who won two medals at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. After her swimming career, Terpstra became involved in politics where she was a member of parliament. She served as State Secretary for Health, Welfare and Sport. In October 2003 she was appointed chairman of the Dutch Olympic Committee.

Before heading to the BC stadium to watch the opening, the chairman took time to have a Dutch chat (‘onderonsje’) with the Statendam Officers.
