The Atriums – R Class

From the sweeping staircases on either side of the ms Rotterdam’s spacious atrium, watch as Hercules holds up the sky atop a grand three-story Flemish clock tower. This elaborate timepiece is not only ornate and whimsical, it is also accurate!

At the heart of the ship an elegant sculpture by Luciano Vistosi, inspired by the myriad of moods and colors of a kaleidoscope, greets visitors in a soaring three-story atrium.

Dancing puppets and hundreds of pipes grace the fanciful Dutch band organ that is the centerpiece of the ms Zaandam’s three-story atrium. Fish-scale tiles, naked nymphs and ornate fretwork complete the grand, exciting picture.

World time, ship’s time, planets and constellations are all tracked by the Astrolabe clock tower that is the centerpiece of the ms Amsterdam’s soaring atrium. Complete with gargoyles and goddesses, this is a mystical masterpiece indeed.

Wow! I just love all of the R class atriums, but the Amsterdam’s is my personal favorite as it ties into the voyages theme so well.
